Dear friends,

Happy holidays! I can’t believe it’s already November… it feels like this year both flew by and happened in slow motion. I feel like I just packed five years into a 365 day period!

I haven't sent out many emails this year, largely because I like to keep these personal and my computer time has been limited. But before the year ends, I wanted to send you a quick report on some good news from the past several months. All the details below. :)

I'll be in San Diego, Vancouver, and Massachussetts in the first quarter of 2018. Drop me a line if you'll be there; I'd love to see you!

For the nerds!

We got a research grant from lululemon!

A few months ago, we received a second major grant in partnership with Catherine Cook Cottone’s research team at University at Buffalo. The grant will support a two-year research initiative on our programs. By the end of it we will have not one, but four studies on our programs… three of which will be randomized control trials. As you can imagine, I’m THRILLED. I’ve been dreaming about doing this research since I was 19 years old!

My TEDx Talk is Live!

It's finally done! Holy mole, that was a roller coaster. Possibly one of the most challenging intellectual and creative projects I’ve ever embarked on. The talk is called, “The Diagnosis Effect: The Power of the Mind” and it just went live this week. If you have any interest in the nature of mental illness, and how we can harness the mind in medicine, I think you’ll find it right up your alley. :)

Europe tour was a success!

I spent most of September and October leading trainings in Europe. What a trip! I even got to sneak in a quick campervan tour in the highlands (pictures here) before rushing home to finish the TEDx talk. Scotland is now home to our largest coalition of overseas programs and facilitators. Very excited to return there next October to lead a series of brand new workshops. Stay tuned for more details!

We launched a new website!

Last, but definitely not least, we just launched a new website! This has been nearly a year in development, and I think beautifully reflects how we’ve grown as an organization this year. We got our start helping people overcome eating disorders, but we've expanded to serve people dealing with all sorts of mental health challenges.

Check it out!
