Laurel is a Psychotherapist, Yoga Teacher, Acu-Detox Specialist, Sound Healing Practitioner, and a grateful mother of two sons. Yoga and mental healthcare have been steady passions in her life for over fourteen years; becoming a licensed therapist twelve years ago and a certified yoga instructor 9 years ago. Laurel’s skills combine to serve her clients in cultivating a connection to, and a remembrance of, each person’s true nature as perfect, complete, and whole just as they are. She draws inspiration from luminaries like Thich Nhat Hanh, Pema Chodron, Georgia O' Keefe, and John O'Donohue. Samantha Christodoulou is Director of Operations for Eat Breathe Thrive, a Certified Yoga Teacher (RYT-500), Creative Director for the Give Back Yoga Foundation, and a freelance graphic designer. Guided by her personal and professional experiences, she is passionate about creating an inclusive, accessible, and integrative approach to mental health. An eating disorder survivor herself, Sam has an embodied understanding of the therapeutic role which yoga, community, and service can play in recovery. Through her various roles with Eat Breathe Thrive, and as a Fellow of the Mental Health Collective, Sam is dedicated to empowering others with tools and practices for mental wellbeing, emotional resilience, and positive embodiment.

Daneen Farrall

Daneen Farrall

Cleveland, OH

Daneen is an E-RYT 200 certified yoga instructor, a Yoga Alliance Certified Education Provider (YACEP), with specialized training in yoga for athletic recovery. She has been a student of yoga for over ten years, a certified teacher since 2014, and has worked with all levels of athletes from high school to professional. She enjoys understanding the science behind “how” yoga works and gains inspiration and insight from instructors like Jason Crandell, Tiffany Cruikshank of Yoga Medicine™, and our founder, Chelsea Roff.

She lives in Cleveland, OH, with her husband and four children. She credits yoga with helping her stay grounded and flexible through parenting. Before becoming a mom, she worked in corporate training consulting and now enjoys using those skills to develop yoga and wellness programs and experiences for studios and private clients.

Yoga played a meaningful role in developing a deeper, kinder, and loving relationship with herself - body, mind, and spirit. Daneen’s hope is to create spaces and experiences for others to realize that yoga is accessible, doable, and available to anyone regardless of age, size, race, gender, sexual orientation, or income.

Hannah McCarthy is a dedicated mother, wife, yoga teacher and practitioner, who has been practising yoga for over ten years. Since 2017, Hannah has taught local community yoga classes, chair yoga classes, and one-to-one yoga sessions, as well as school programmes, designed to empower students with yoga-based tools for self-regulation, ahimsa, and perspective in what we can control. A firm believer in human rights and equality for all, Hannah cites yoga as a powerful tool for bringing our humanity to the forefront. Shaped by her experience of healing from anorexia and trauma, Hannah is passionate about providing others with the space, warmth, and time to navigate and address their own life challenges.

Michelle McElroy

Michelle McElroy is a therapist and yoga instructor. She has been working with people of all ages since she was in her 20s, both through fitness and counseling. She has taught yoga for ten years, as well as fitness classes, working in different mental health agencies. Now she is seeing patients as a registered clinical counselor for over 2.5 years.

Michelle is committed to fighting against the diet culture, helping people build confidence in who they are and their bodies. She has worked with groups and individuals as a counselor and art therapist. During her 1-year practicum at an eating disorder clinic, she designed a 12-week group therapy program that works specifically to build self-worth and body image.

Michelle’s first long-term yoga instructor helped her understand the beauty of yoga and being still. She uses this mindfulness in all areas of her life. She is the mother of 2 beautiful daughters and lives in Victoria, British Columbia.

Nancy Rhodes

Inspired by teachers Diane Bondy and Amber Karnes, Nancy loves creating space for people to feel comfortable as their true selves. Nancy is a body positive, fat acceptance activist and the owner and primary instructor at Abundance Yoga. Nancy found yoga as part of a recovery journey. She found the practice allowed her to let go and be in the present. She is passionate about functional movement for connecting to our body and appreciating our quality and longevity of life and has been working since 2012 to share this passion with others. She’s extraordinarily proud to be teaching yoga in Eating Disorder treatment facilities.

Nancy is 200 hr E-RYT certified in Ashtanga yoga, 500 hr RYT certified and YACEP certified yoga educator. Nancy holds certifications in Chair, Restorative, Yoga for Sensory Disorders, and Curvy Yoga. Nancy is trained in Yoga for Children, Kundalini, Prenatal, Yin Yoga, and Yoga for All. Nancy holds a Bachelor’s Degree in the Science of Health and Wellness and is a National Exercise and Sports Trainers Association certified Wellness Coach.

Dr Nicole Schnackenberg is a child, community and educational psychologist and certified as both a Hatha and Kundalini yoga teacher. She has undertaken extensive training in yoga therapy also. Nicole currently divides her time between working as an educational psychologist in Southend, Essex and her position as a trustee of the Body Dysmorphic Disorder Foundation. She has authored books on transpersonal modes of healing from food and body image struggles: False Bodies, True Selves: Moving Beyond Appearance-Focused Identity Struggles and Returning to the True Self and Bodies Arising: Fall in Love with your Body and Remember your Divine Essence. A strong advocate for holistic healthcare, Lara is an active member of the American Holistic Nurses Association. A survivor of anorexia, depression, and anxiety, Lara is passionate about sharing embodiment practices for unearthing the body’s innate wisdom. Sarah Spitz, LCSW is a psychotherapist, health coach, and certified yoga teacher who works in private practice in Manhattan. She believes in holistic healing and the power of connection and compassion. She embarked on her journey as a yoga teacher in 2020, leaving behind a corporate career in 2021 to fully embrace her passion for yoga. With qualifications including a 200-RYT and 100-RYT and a Health Coach Diploma from CNM, Georgiana is committed to making holistic health accessible to all. She aims to empower individuals who may not typically have access to yoga and to help them build self-confidence and self-worth through a holistic approach to well-being. Inspired by Mia Togo, Veda Ela, and Frida Kahlo, Georgiana strives to create an inclusive space where yoga is accessible to everyone. Melanie Taylor is a Yoga Therapist and Trauma-Informed Body Positive ViniYoga Teacher Trainer. For over 30 years, Melanie has dedicated her life and work to transforming what it means to live with stress, trauma, PTSD, disrupted body image, and an eating disorder. She is also the founder of the Life of Wellness Institute, which promotes the belief that everybody already has what they need to live with aliveness and fulfillment and to make their dreams a reality. Through the Life of Wellness Institute, Melanie guides her students to reclaim and reconnect to their authentic selves, inner strength, resilience, and empowers them with resources and support to embrace their life, health, and wellness. Outside of her work, Melanie enjoys time in nature, camping and hiking, a good book, and family fun nights with her husband and two adult children.

Kim ten Hoeve is a Yoga Teacher, Licenced Art Therapist, and Peer Supporter, who lives and works in Groningen, the Netherlands. Kim has been teaching yoga in yoga studios since 2019, as well as in her workplace, Ixta Noa, where she has been a peer supporter for those dealing with eating disorders and other mental health challenges since 2013. Having recovered from an eating disorder herself, Kim believes that she would still be struggling, if she hadn’t discovered yoga and integrated it into her life. Kim strongly believes that embodiment, acceptance, and self compassion are key in recovery—a belief which is reflected in and shared with others through her teachings and work.

Kelly White

In addition to being an Eat Breathe Thrive facilitator, Kelly White is a 200-RYT yoga teacher, an Ayurveda specialist, and a nutritional counselor. A loyal wife and dedicated mother to two daughters, Kelly has served in the military for over 14 years. As a leader, Kelly routinely brings her yoga into her military experiences. She gains inspiration from those who dare to care, dream, build and climb. Kelly believes presence is more valuable than anything. In collaboration with White Pine Center for Healing in Erie PA, she hopes to hold space for others to experience the profound healing power of yoga and its principles during prosperity, tragedy, and everything in between.
